The GA5K Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, April 9th at 9am on the PSUGA campus. Cost is $15 for students and $25 for adults, which includes a T-shirt and post-race goodies. All proceeds will benefit SCM. Register HERE! |

Sonshine is proud to partner with the Will Run for Food Marathon Team at this year's Pittsburgh Marathon, and this year we have some home-grown runners participating. Marty Kelly and Sara Holtzman will be running for SCM. Here are 3 ways you can donate to help us as a ministry: 1) Send a check to SCM with "Will Run For Food" in the memo line by Sunday May 8th.
2) Donate online at our partner's website St. Luke Cabot - Please put "Marty Kelly" or "Sara Holtzman" in the comment box. 3) Make a cash donation directly at SCM

December 12 was our annual Sonshine Christmas dinner for our families. It is held each year at First Evangelical Free Church. This year we served over 50 families with a dinner, live nativity and a short program including our Hang 5 Tutor kids doing the music. Over 200 gifts were purchased by individuals and churches to help these families at the holiday time. McKeesport High School Interact Club organized all those gifts for each family. It was a great night and blessing to all. Thanks to all of you that purchased gifts, gave finances, cooked, set up , helped in the program or nativity and served the families that evening. You were part of being a blessing to many in our community! Hope House is scheduled to open January 18! What an answer to prayer to our long time vision. Last minute organizing is taking place, and appointments will be taken soon. Our hours of operation will be Tuesdays 10-2 and Thursdays 12-7. Finally, our Hang 5 Tutoring is closed over the Christmas break until January 4. Merry Christmas to our kids and tutors! |

Run the Pittsburgh Marathon to raise funds for Sonshine CM. Would you consider running with us? Last year we received $5,000 to help support our food pantry and we are proud to partner with the Will Fun for Food runners again this year.
Will Run for Food, an official Dick's Sporting Goods Marathon charity, has once again chosen SCM as one of its recipients. We are very excited to be partnering with St. Luke Lutheran Church and School as they put together a team of runners, and we are hoping to add some of our own SCM family to the team.
Runners participate in fundraising activities while training for the marathon, half-marathon, or relay. 50% of all funds raised will be donated to SCM. These funds will be used in two ways: 1. To purchase food during the months of 2011 when we need extra funds and 2. To provide holiday meals to 200+ families in need.

Our Hang 5 Tutoring program is back for this school year! We have updated the ministry page with some important information, as well as added dates and details to the calendar. Some important dates for anyone interested in being a tutor this year are October 11th and 21st. If you are interested in being a tutor you must attend one of these training sessions.
